Emilie was born in London, Ontario. As a child, her art training, violin lessons and dance classes were a constant, providing her with a well-rounded art education.

Emilie Kaplun has been a professional jewellery designer since 1988 when she had her first store in Port Stanley Ontario under the name of “Eldora Jewellery”. After high school, she attended McGill University in Montreal with a liberal arts degree in Humanistic Studies.

In 1997 she moved to Vancouver where she continued her jewellery training through silversmithing courses and glass bead making classes. Emilie was the owner of Raspberry Retreat, which was a gift store in Vancouver that supported over 50 Canadian artists.Helping other artists pursue their dreams was very fulfilling for Emilie. In 2001, she won the Entrepreneur of the Year award for her retail business.

In 2008 she spent a year living in Halifax immersing herself in Maritime culture and sold her works in wedding shops and jewellery galleries. In 2012 she made the leap to Bowen Island and is enjoying the slower pace and creative atmosphere that the island brings. Emilie is happy to be creating her work in her Bowen Island studio.
